Location
The Dunká is in the south-western part of Iceland, just under a two hour drive from the capital city, Reykjavik. The river flows in to Hvammsfjödur Bay which is actually a part of Breidafjördur. The Breidafjördur is well known for his big salmon population.
The next village Budardalur is only 18 km far away and provide gasoline station, supermarket, bank, post office, Internet Cafe and the touristic office. In case of accident you can find the doctor also there.
The river and surrounding region aren't just tempting for fishing enthusiasts. Besides an assortment of local tours (hiking, riding, etc.) you'll discover an exciting range of day trips (Eriksstadir, Stykkisholmur, Snaefellsness Peninsula, thermal baths, a.s.o.). They are all within easy striking distance by car.
For a different fishing experience we could organize a daytrip on a boat fishing cod in Stykkisholmur.
